Starting in late July, an exhibition on the 7th floor of the Central Library will celebrate the Art Collection of the Denver Public Library’s Western History and Genealogy Department. The Art Collection has grown along with DPL from its earliest beginnings. Comprised of paintings, sculptures, prints, artifacts, and ephemera, the collection has something for everyone. The exhibit will highlight the strengths and wide variety of the collection.
We’re looking for a catchy title for the exhibit. What follows the title will be this tag: “the Art Collection of the Western History and Genealogy Department.” Examples might include:
“Beyond Books: the Art Collection of the Western History and Genealogy Department”
“Something for Everyone: the Art Collection of the Western History and Genealogy Department”
“An Enduring Vision: the Art Collection of the Western History and Genealogy Department”
Even something humorous, such as.”What the Librarians Never Let You See: the Art Collection of the Western History and Genealogy Department”
A panel of librarians will choose the winner from all entries posted before May 15. The winner and three guests will enjoy a private tour of the exhibit with Jim Kroll, head of the Western History and Genealogy Department, and Deborah Wadsworth, guest curator of the show. So send your ideas to history@denverlibrary.org by May 15th, with your name, catchy title, and email address. We look forward to your suggestions.
