At a December 16 meeting of The Denver Posse of Westerners, retired Denver Public Library archivist Dennis Hagen received the organization’s 2015 Fred A. Rosenstock Award for Lifetime Achievement in Western History.
The Denver Posse of Westerners is a founding member of Westerners International, an organization that has actively promoted the study of Western History for over 70 years. The award is named for Denver’s rare book dealer, Fred Rosenstock, from whom DPL’s Western History and Genealogy Department purchased numerous manuscript collections and papers in past years.
Among other achievements, Dennis was cited for his management of DPL’s 10th Mountain Division archives and the thousands of reference transactions handled during his tenure as an archivist and special collections librarian.
Dennis joined DPL in 2004 and retired December 31, 2014. He remains active with the archives working as a volunteer on special projects.
